From February, 6th-10th a group of 45 staff drawn from various learning institutions, last Friday, completed a five-day workshop in school leadership and management.
The workshop, that took place in Rwamagana District, was organised by the Ministry of Education (Mineduc) , in partnership with the Flemish Association for Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance (VVOB).
The seminar was carried out by professional trainers in the field of school leadership and management from Canterbury Christ Church University of England.
The workshop drew participants from Mineduc, Rwanda Education Board (REB), Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) and the National University of Rwanda (NUR), among others.
Participants will, thereafter, be expected to pass on the skills to secondary school headmasters and teachers across the country.
Damien Ntaganzwa, the Deputy Director General in charge of the Teacher Development and Management, REB, said the training will play a decisive role in proper school management to enhance quality education.
“It is necessary to have a highly skilled pool of trainers who will be training teachers in school management and leadership, and I believe this will contribute greatly to the country’s development, especially in the education sector,” Ntagangwa observed.
He said that the training will also help improve the living standards of living among teachers through enhancement of skills in their daily duties.
Gerrit Stassyns, the VVOB Rwanda Programme Manager, noted that the Belgian NGO will continue its support to ensure that institutions dealing in the education sector are fully empowered to sustain the achievements in school management and leadership.
According to Ntaganzwa, the new pool of trainers will be deployed in various educational training centres across the country
